President and CEO
Jason Rosenthal is CEO of Lytro where he is working to deliver on the promise of Virtual Reality and define the next generation of film and television production with Light Field technology. Rosenthal has been dedicated to the development of transformational new platforms throughout his career, from the early days of the commercial Internet at Netscape and as part of the original team at Loudcloud, the world’s first Cloud computing company. With continued passion for bleeding edge technology, he is now leading the Lytro team in creating a computational imaging ecosystem that extends the power of Light Field video across multiple industries.
Joining Lytro in 2013, Rosenthal refocused the company’s vision to the professional production of mixed reality and film and television, leading to the development of revolutionary Light Field capture systems for both markets, Lytro Immerge and Lytro Cinema, respectively.
Rosenthal joined Lytro from Silver Lake Partners, a global technology investment firm, where he was an Operating Executive. Prior to that, he was CEO of Ning, where he led the successful transition from a free, ad-supported service to a premium subscription model. Before joining Ning, Rosenthal held executive positions at HP and Opsware (formerly Loudcloud) and led product teams at Netscape and AOL.
Rosenthal holds a B.A. in history from Pomona College where he also serves on the board of trustees. He received his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
